During Milan Design Week 2023, Montis and BYBORRE joined forces for a special collaboration at the historic Castello Sforzesco. Under the name “The Elephant in the Room – let’s talk about it,” we stood together for a sustainable and transparent production chain.
The collaboration showcased a unique combination of Montis’ furniture designs and BYBORRE’s innovative knitted fabrics. Borre Akkersdijk, the esteemed textile pioneer of BYBORRE, is known for his high-quality knitted fabrics with diverse yarns and thread thicknesses. The result was a surprising mix of styles and materials that inspired visitors of Milan Design Week.
In the heart of Milan, in the historic setting of the famous Castello Sforzesco, visitors could meet the “changemakers” of the future. Montis presented, among other things, the generous Domino.18 setup and the new Beanie Beach poufs with BYBORRE fabrics. Additionally, seven salons were decorated with furniture from the Montis collection, including the new Fabian lounge chair and the relaunch of the successful Florence armchair.
A highlight of the event was the panel discussion, where Montis participated in discussions on “The Importance Of A (Fair) Supply Chain,” alongside other prominent names such as Mayer & Cie, a leader in the production of circular knitting machines.
Overall, this event demonstrated that collaboration and innovation are essential for shaping a better and more responsible design world. Milan Design Week 2023 will certainly be remembered as a milestone in the pursuit of a more sustainable and transparent future for design.
